From time to time, Washington University Special Collections receives external requests for permission to use images owned by Washington University in new publications or exhibits. Special Collections and MarComm collaborate on these requests.
When such a request comes in from a library patron, and the University Archivist determines that the university is able to fulfill it, the Archivist will direct the patron to send a formal request to MarComm for permission. These requests currently route to Karen Daubert.
MarComm will respond to the request, copying Special Collections, and the University Archivist will supply the image(s) and give the patron guidance.
