chancellor

Capitalize when directly preceding name, but lowercase in other usages. Examples: Here is Chancellor Andrew D. Martin. Andrew Martin is our chancellor. Meet our chancellor, Andrew Martin. The chancellor’s preference for identification on first reference is Chancellor Andrew D. Martin, NOT: Dr. Andrew Martin.

To recognize more fully the contribution of charter member Mr. Hudson E. Bridge to Washington University and the association of his name with the chancellorship, and to meet legal requirements, Washington University’s academic bulletins are to identify Andrew D. Martin as the Hudson E. Bridge Chancellor.
