WashU Police Website Redesign

Campus Partner: WashU Police Department

MarComm partnered with the WashU police department to reimagine their current site. Our key goals were to authentically represent the relationship between WashU police and students, faculty and staff, and improve site navigation.

Strategy

We worked with the WashU Police team to find their voice and define their message. We created a plan for users to get the chance to get to know the people behind WashU Police through photography, team bios, featured officer sections and showcasing the services they provide. Now users can quickly contact the WashU Police or individual team members, as well as provide feedback.

Digital

We created a new rich experience for users to find content and learn more about the WashU Police. The redesigned website displays both content that responds to what site visitors are looking for and expecting to see, as well as content that communicates messaging that is a priority for WashU Police.

Users can regularly keep informed on what is happening on and around campus. Timely updates and announcements features provide ample opportunity to highlight time-sensitive content.
The site emphasizes safety as a community effort and encourages people to be proactive about safety. Simplifying the police services content helps users find the content they are looking for, while also suggesting related services and programs they may not know are available.
The redesigned Lost and Found feature allows users to select from “lost” and “found” sections and within each of those sections, filter and search for specific items. A generic version of this plugin was also created to make sure it is universally applicable to the university on campus.

Photography

We worked closely with the WashU police team to demonstrate their community focus and to capture the team’s approachability through team portraits and community lifestyle imagery.
